  • Mark Hill, Mr

    Non-Executive Board Chairman

      Mr Mark Hill is currently Chief Operating Officer, LATAM and Asia Pacific for Barrick Gold Corporation. He was appointed chief investment officer of Barrick in September 2016, chairing its investment committee, and is a member of the Company's executive committee. Mr Hill has more than 25 years' experience in the mining industry, gained at BHP Billiton, AngloGold Ashanti, Placer Dome and WMC Limited. Mr Hill holds a bachelor's degree in mining engineering and a graduate diploma in mineral economics.
       

  • Chun Wang, Dr

    Non-Executive Director

       Dr. Chun Wang is currently General Manager of Gold Mountains (H.K.) International Mining Co., Ltd, a wholly subsidiary of Zijin Mining Group in Hong Kong. He previously held various positions in Zijin Mining Group including CEO of Zijin Continental Gold Ltd, Deputy Chief Engineer of Zijin Mining Group and Director of Zijin Research Institute of Mining & Metallurgy.
      Prior to joining Zijin, Dr. Wang’s previous roles included VP Technical, Operation and Project for CMOC Group, Chief Technical Officer for Ramu NiCo Management (MCC) Ltd., Chief Engineer for Tibet Yulong Copper Industries and Senior Principal Metallurgist, Hydrometallurgical Research Group Leader for BGRIMM.
       Dr. Wang has served the mining industry for over 26 years, predominantly in the base metal industry since receiving his PhD in Chemistry in 1996 from Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is a qualified and skilled metallurgist with practical operation experience in different areas of the mining industry. Dr. Wang is very experienced in the extractive metallurgy of copper, zinc, nickel cobalt and gold, and has sound process research & development and engineering capacity, especially in heap leach, agitation leach, pressure leach and oxidation, solvent extraction and electrowinning.

  • Woo Lee, Mr

    Non-Executive Director

      Mr. Woo Lee is Senior Vice President of Barrick Gold Corporation and Head of Corporate Affairs for the Asia-Pacific.  His previous position was President of Barrick China.  He has over 30 years of experience in East Asia, working with government officials, business leaders, non-governmental organizations, media and other stakeholders.  Mr. Lee was previously Senior Advisor and Managing Director at JL Thornton & Company, where he advised the firm’s founder and Barrick Executive Chairman, John Thornton, and led its government, commercial and non-profit projects in Asia.  Prior to entering the private sector, Mr. Lee worked as an American diplomat in the U.S. State Department for 16 years, serving in progressively senior positions at American embassies and consulates in Japan, Australia, China and the Philippines. 
       
      Mr. Lee is a member of the board of directors of Barrick (Niugini) Limited and Argentina Gold (Bermuda) II Limited.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in East Asian studies from Yale University.  Mr. Lee’s foreign languages are Japanese, Korean and Mandarin.

  • Shaoyang Shen, Mr

    Non-Executive Director

      Mr Shaoyang Shen is currently Vice President of Zijin Mining Group Co., Ltd. Mr Shen has more than 15 years of operations management and investment experience in the mining industry. Prior to joining Zijin Mining, he held senior executive positions with Silvercorp Metals Inc., a Toronto Stock Exchange listed mining company, including as Chief Operating Officer of the company and Vice President for China Operations. He also served as director of Pretium Resources Inc., a Toronto Stock Exchange and New York Stock Exchange listed Canadian mining company from 2015 to 2018. 
       

  • Karo Lelai, Ms

    Director

      Ms. Karo Lelai was appointed by Barrick (Niugini) Limited as Country Manager for Papua New Guinea Operations on 1 October 2022. She is a lawyer by profession and was previously Principal of Norton Rose Fulbright Papua New Guinea and General Counsel of Petromin PNG Holdings Limited (now called Kumul Minerals Holdings Limited).  Ms. Lelai has over 20 years of commercial legal experience practicing law in Papua New Guinea, with a focus on the mining and petroleum sector and is held in high repute within the industry.  She is a well-known leader in Papua New Guinea for her years of voluntary work in the world of sports, using sport as a tool for development and the promotion of Papua New Guinean women leaders. She has a Bachelor of Laws degree (Hons) from the University of Papua New Guinea, a Masters in Business Administration also from that University and has been a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors since 2009.
      Ms. Lelai speaks English and Tok Pisin, two of Papua New Guinea’s National languages.
       

  • The Porgera Gold Mine in Enga Province, Papua New Guinea, is owned by the Porgera Joint Venture (PJV).

    It is operated by Barrick (Niugini) Limited (“BNL”) which owns 95 percent participating interest in PJV. The remaining 5% is owned by Mineral Resources Enga (MRE) Limited.
